At first glance, this collection appears to be a colourful representation of a popular character, yet a closer examination reveals a bolder form of primitivism created by the Colombian contemporary artist Julio Parra. His effervescent scribbles and brushstrokes, seemingly splashed across the stark white background, are designed to convey both unfettered positivism as well as a powerful message about social and economic inequality.
